Fobos SDR is now natively supported by SDRangel

12.06.2026

Great news for the Fobos SDR community!

We are excited to share that Fobos SDR now has native support in SDRangel, one of the most popular and powerful open-source SDR applications used by radio enthusiasts, engineers, researchers, and makers around the world.

Starting with SDRangel v7.26.0, Fobos SDR support was officially added to the SDRangel project. We have also confirmed that it works successfully in the official SDRangel v7.26.1 Windows release.

This is a big milestone for Fobos SDR and an important step forward for making the receiver easier and more enjoyable to use.

Why this matters

Until now, many advanced SDR workflows required extra steps: downloading additional components, building software from source code, manually copying libraries, or using intermediate layers.

With native support in SDRangel, the experience becomes much simpler.

For Windows users, there is no need to compile anything, patch anything, or manually install extra Fobos SDR libraries. Just download the official SDRangel release, launch the application, select Fobos SDR from the Source list, and start exploring the spectrum.

Confirmed working

We have already tested the official Windows release of SDRangel v7.26.1 with Fobos SDR.

Confirmed results:

  • Fobos SDR appears in the SDRangel Source list
  • The receiver connects successfully
  • FM broadcast stations are received
  • Required runtime components are included in the release
  • The native plugin is delivered as part of the official SDRangel package

This means Fobos SDR support is no longer just something for developers building from source. It is now available in an official SDRangel Windows release for everyday users.

Another major application joins the list

With SDRangel support confirmed, Fobos SDR continues to expand its software ecosystem.

After support in uSDR and SDR++, SDRangel now becomes another major SDR application where Fobos SDR can be used natively.

That is a big win for accessibility, compatibility, and the growing Fobos SDR user community.

What about Linux and macOS?

Windows support is already available in the official SDRangel release.

Linux support is actively moving forward, and our goal is the same: to make the user experience as simple as possible, with minimal manual setup and a smooth out-of-the-box workflow.

macOS support is also an important future direction.

This is another exciting step toward making Fobos SDR a powerful, flexible, and easy-to-use receiver across the most popular SDR platforms.
