The world of amateur radio has witnessed another historic achievement. The Ukrainian team of Yarik (UW7LL) and Yuri (VE3DZ) has won WRTC 2026 (World Radiosport Team Championship), earning the title of World Champions for the second consecutive championship.

What Is WRTC?

The World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC) is widely regarded as the Olympics of Amateur Radio Contesting. Held every four years, it brings together the world’s best contest operators, who qualify through years of outstanding performance in international competitions.

Unlike traditional contests, every competing team operates under identical conditions. Each team receives the same radio equipment, antenna systems, station layout, and operating environment. This eliminates any technical advantages and ensures that success depends solely on operating skill, strategy, teamwork, and endurance.

WRTC 2026

WRTC 2026 took place July 8–13, 2026, in East Anglia, United Kingdom, bringing together the world’s strongest contest operators for one of the most demanding competitions in amateur radio.

For 24 hours of nonstop operation, teams competed under equal conditions, making every contact and every multiplier count.

Outstanding Performance by Team Ukraine

The Ukrainian team delivered an exceptional performance from start to finish, securing first place against the world’s elite contesters.

In addition to winning the championship, the team also received the Most Multipliers Award, recognizing the highest number of multipliers achieved during the competition—another testament to their outstanding operating skills and strategic excellence.

This victory follows Ukraine’s triumph at WRTC 2022 in Italy, making the Ukrainian team back-to-back World Champions—an extraordinary accomplishment in the history of radiosport.
